At our second meeting in June, we read Maisy Makes Lemonade, made fresh lemonade, learned the hand game "Lemonade Crunchy Ice," and again used watercolor!

At our first summer session in June we read Swimmy and a nonfiction book about jellyfish. Then we used watercolor and streamers to make jellyfish. The older kids worked on making a book about the ocean. We had Goldfish crackers for snack and sang a song I learned from Barney (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Once I caught a fish alive..) and My Bonnie.
I have not forgotten about my blog... :) I'm not sure what happened to me the second semester of last year. Anyway, this summer I have been volunteering to teach English Learners 1 day a week for 2 hours at a time while their parents attend "Coffee Talk" with an Americorp volunteer who teaches them conversational English. It has been fantastic! Yesterday we read Watermelon Wishes, used watercolor to paint watermelons, and of course, ate watermelon. I had 9 kiddos ranging from upcoming kindergarteners to an upcoming fifth grader.
After class, we headed out to our school gardens that were just started in the spring. The kids were SO excited to see everything that has grown!!
